B. brevis host-vector system, a basic technology, is an excellent system for industrial mass production of secretory proteins. Our parent company, Higeta Shoyu Co., Ltd., commercially produces epidermal growth factor (EGF), which is being utilized in the Australian sheep wool industry. At Protein Express, we are searching for an even greater variety of methods for utilizing EGF.
At the same time, we single out valuable genes from our in-house development, and also from independent researchers and enterprises who own them and wish to conduct collaborative research with us. With the protein- producing resources, for example B. brevis, among other materials, we develop efficient ways of producing proteins. Then, we verify biological activities, and conduct clinical tests. Through such procedures, we develop protein-based pharmaceuticals.
